Switch off lights for Earth Hour

Five minutes before Earth Hour began we turned off all the computers, switches at the walls and got ready for an hour of darkness. About ten minutes into it, Dot and Jerome started entertaining themselves by making animal shadows on the wall. I took a photo without the flash hoping to capture the moment but only the candle was visible.

So I put the camera on flash mode thinking that it would show the shadows on the walls. But when I saw the photo, I cracked up laughing! No shadows, just two monkeys!

But soon, even I was making animal shadows on the wall and since it was Dot's camera, I thought maybe she would be able to capture the pictures better.

But I thought wrong!!

Least our "ghost faces" were good.

I thought mine was scary until I saw Jerome's version...

Dot attempted too but it is hardly scary. I thought it looked cute!

Earth Hour was initially just an act against global warming but when the hour ended, I was left feeling nostalgic. It reminded me of the blackouts in Brunei which gave us [the family] a reason to bring out the candles, sit around the living room and take turns telling stories and jokes.

Kudos to the person who came up with the ingenious idea of Earth Hour!
