So on Saturday 24th January 2009, I was on my way to my first b-ball game. We arrived a couple of minutes late and even before we entered the basketball court, we could hear the crowd chanting "De-fense! De-fense! De-fense!" The atmosphere was amazing!
I didn't get into the game straight away since I was still trying to adjust to the wave of people, the chanting, the booing of the Gold Coast Blaze and the fact that they were playing pretty cool music while the game was on. I had no idea. I always thought it was edited into the game on TV.At the start of the second quarter, the emcee asked everyone to stand and yes, I started chanting along to "Wildcats let's go Wildcats" and found myself cheering when the wildcats made their first shot.
There was this dude with corn-rows from the Blaze who kept trying to make a big deal out of his falls or when someone bumped into him. And when the referee ignored his complaints, his face just changed immediately. He must've gone to acting class. But I managed to capture drama queen in action.
And with every b-ball game, you can only expect the best entertainment from the cheerleaders. They had around four different outfits over the course of the evening. This has to be my favourite. A poncho of the Australian flag with short shorts and boots!

I could not help but crop this part out. There are definitely perks for referees at b-ball games.
